With a tractor like this, can you change speeds while moving, or does that have to be done while stationary? If the former, I'd think starting in a slow speed, and shifting upwards (like on a bicycle) would prevent this jerking motion

Those type mowers get on my nerves so much im willing to keep my old new noma at his her house and i go there to do his yard work for him her because i told heshe i can't ride they're little mower there's no way the seat can slide back for my legs there's shit you have to hold down with your foot or it wont cut it does not turn good one bit goes through spark plugs because the engine was built wrong muffler right next to the plug no heat shield between the muffler and plug No cover over the chain to prevent damage to it. grease fill holes hard to get to gotta take a bunch of other parts off just to fix one piece or boot its easy to work on but is a bitch those are ones not in my collection of used working mowers I did get a free 80ies model snapper and i redone the engine then gave it to a old friend he fixed the drive gears and spring then sold it for 5 hundred

I still don't like those or snappers similar to those mowers they don't trun right they'll jump forward because not enough weight in the front you know i just don't like um but I'll take they're engines and wheels

At least there’s a bull guard on the front. Looks like a 35/ 45 lb plate would fit perfectly on the front end. To help keeping it from jerking up.

I would probably use mobile one 15 W 50 in it and if there’s anything you can grease I guess you could use boat trailer grease or a really good extreme pressure high temperature grease and obviously stable 360 in your gasoline

Does this model have an alternator to charge the batter while the engine is running?

I have had a few scary moments in my yard where I thought I might tip over. I did not think that my yard was that sloppy. Evidently it was for this mower. Any thoughts on slopes?

There’s a triangular button next to the ignition key. If you read the instructions, you’ll learn that if you turn the key to the left one notch, then hold the button down, you can then mow in reverse. Super simple.

Yea Sears used to own the craftsman name . Black and decker owns MTD, craftsman, toro, Troy built ,John deer and most other mower companies. I went with the same mower but with a bagger.I unplugged the seat and reverse blade disengagement.

I've had my rear engine Sears mower for years and disabled the reverse switch, I also disabled the discharge chute switch because it kept getting displaced by grass, because it's flimsy, and the mower kept shutting off. Other than the 5 interlock switches, the only thing that I would be concerned with is the fact that it has a narrow track so the mower is not very stable on even a slight side hill.

My 29000 transmission has failed. Is there a source for them? Sears list them "obsolete" and not available...

I've had this mower for 9 years. No real problems using E10 or no ethanol gas. I've had a screw come out which holds the oil filler neck and has a ground connection. Can anyone spec this machine screw for me? The on-line parts view does not show the specs for the small bolt.

Glad I watched the video!! I just bought one of these Sears Craftsman R1000 mowers from a lady on Facebook marketplace today. She was asking $400, but I offered $300 and she accepted. :) It's just 2 yrs old and look's great, nearly a new machine and I even got the bagger attachment. Thanks for all the great tips and advice. I'm going to see if I can rig up two gauge wheels on the front of the deck. Other than that, it seems to be a great little machine for smaller yards.

I just picked one of these little guys up that someone up the road from me was giving away free Battery is dead dead However, hooked some jumper cables to it from my truck and motor turns over just fine But will not crank Is that deck chute safety switch suppose to be pressed in all the way to allow the mower to start is is it suppose to be depressed all the way out ? Thank you Thank you Thank you. My mower was down for 2 days and I tried testing every electrical component on this thing. When you said you bump something and it shut off and all it was is a safety switch, I ran outside and tried it and BAM that was it. Saved my summer.

How is the mower over time? This video is 7 years old. Is the mower still working?

How do you get the red flat "guard" up? I need to charge the battery and can't get to it without raising that and it does not move. Is there a button to release it?
